Southern Italian digestif traditionally made from the zest of Sorrento
zest is steeped in rectified spirit until the oil is released. This
yellow liquid is then mixed with simple syrup; the sugar to water ratio
and temperature determine its clarity, viscosity, and flavour.
Limoncello's strong lemon flavor makes it a
popular addition to cocktails.
It is traditionally served chilled as an after-dinner digestif, often
in small ceramic glasses that are also chilled.
